What is the first novel you remember reading alone?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone!

So this question starts right at the begining of my reading journey.

It starts when I was 11 years old and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one was released in the cinemas. I had watched the film's growing up, being only the age of one when the first was released but I never thought that I would ever be interested in the novels. 

This soon changed when I fell in love with the magical world of Hogwarts and the idea that my imagination can take me wherever I wanted to go, it only depended on the book I chose to open. 

It is an incredible book that inspired so many people to read and continues to do so 20 years after the original publication.
